Has anybody experienced this? Was just talking about this and my fellow adversary mentioned the freakiest shit regarding this topic about how it happened to him. I realized that once I did experience and didn't know what it was until 10 minutes ago, because I tried to scream, but nothing came out. Many religious "theories" behind this idea as well, some crazy stuff. I don't want a fucking flame war, just some comments |

It has to do with the part of your brain that stops you from moving while you are dreaming (otherwise everyone would sleepwalk and not just some people). Sometimes there is a bit of a delayed effect, I think it happens particularly to people when their sleep schedules are inconsistent. |

had it once when i was a kid, its crazy. I also used to sleep walk when i was a kid, bad fucking combination. Woke up one night went downstairs, stood in the basement for like an hour looking at something idk what, but i couldn't move and it lasted uncomfortably long, than i was able to move and i went back to bed. I'm telling you right now its one of the most uncomfortably disturbing, and probably one of the scariest things that ive experienced. Fortunately, its all scientifically proven like dejavu so no need to worry. |

I have the opposite..i lucid dream, it's not hard to happen tho since sleep/dreams are so subconscious they border what's real and what's not.

your body goes into a deep sleep mode. Sometimes those nervous system suppressors are still active when you wake up. Happened to me once - pretty cool/ scary but all you can do is just cill for a min and sit tight :D |

had this a few times... every time the images weren't even scary but u just get that sense of fear like ur trapped or something; last time this happened to me.. i was very aware of what was happening so i decided to stay in the "dream" a little but all i could make out was the back of a person.. and well that scared the shit out of me so i forced myself to wake up. |

I had sleep paralysis like a week ago, It went from lucid dreaming when I was conscious in my dreams and into sleep paralysis when I was not dreaming at all, but was just conscious in darkness. I could hear & feel my fan blow on me in my room so i knew i stopped dreaming, I have sleep paralysis like once or month or so, ive gotten used to it. Though what scared the shit out of me is that for the first time I had sleep apnea and stopped breathing for like 5 seconds and then I woke up. Its scary, I was conscious while my breaths kept getting shorter and shorter until I wasnt breathing at all. Since I couldn't control my breathing I seriously thought I was going to die because I stopped breathing and couldnt do anything about it |

happened to me a fe times when i was 8 years oldish was around the time when stephen king movies were big, especially pet cemetery. anyways id be outside and id see my pets become super evil. id try running but would lose strength in my legs after a second or 2. also couldnt yell/scream scary as fuq |
